Chester County Trees is an evergreen tree farm that plants and grows primarily evergreen trees for sale to local homeowners and tree landscapers.
All of our evergreen trees are purchased as seedlings (or small transplants) from quality and certified nurseries and are carefully nurtured by us over the years to be sold as healthy, beautiful evergreen trees.
In addition, we grow weeping willow trees, maple trees, burning bushes, and forsythia bushes for sale in small and large quantities.
Chester County Trees grows a wide variety of evergreen tree species right here in Chester County, Pennsylvania. All of our trees grow well in Chester County.
We specialize in growing, digging and planting evergreen trees, balled, burlap wrapped with wire basket trees or B&B trees. All trees are pruned (more natural) as needed, not sheared, fertilized annually and watered as needed.
All trees are sold with a guarantee to thrive for up to six months.
We grow and sell healthy evergreen trees from 4' to 16' tall.
All of our trees are fresh dug and wrapped in burlap and a wire basket to protect the tree ball while loading and moving the trees.
Our trees are usually dug one or two days prior to delivery to help minimize tree shock during transplant.
We dig, deliver, and plant our trees up to 8' or 9' tall. We will load our trees up to 16' tall onto your truck or we will load and deliver our trees up to 16' if you are able to unload the trees when delivered.
For trees taller than 9', one of our local tree digging, delivery and planting associates will dig, deliver, and plant our trees for us.
The evergreen trees we grow and sell are considered the most popular and durable evergreen trees for the Chester County, Pennsylvania area:
austrian pine, black hills spruce, colorado blue spruce, fraser fir (a.k.a. balsam fir), norway spruce, white pine and white spruce.
We usually dig and sell most of our evergreen trees in March thru May (before spruce budding and pine candling begins) and July (after spruce budding and pine candling ends) or August thru October or November depending on weather conditions.
We do not normally stock very many already dug trees. We normally dig our trees upon order and down payment where our customers normally receive fresh dug trees that will more quickly adjust to their new and final resting place.
Local delivery and planting is normally available within a few days and prompt. Non-local delivery and planting must be scheduled according to availability.
Our tree guarantee applies if a tree is damaged in transit or improperly planted by us or one of our tree delivery and planting associates.
Healthy fresh dug and planted tree survival and future health is mainly determined by the new ground environment and water provided over the first few months after the tree is planted.
Tree trucking (out of area trucking) is available north and south of Pennsylvania, we do not ship trees west of Pennsylvania. Unloading trees off the tractor trailer or straight truck is the responsibility of the buyer when the customer requests shipping outside our area of support. Shipping rate is from our field location, Coatesville, Pennsylvania where we are located to final destination. Email for pricing and details.
A tree may be flagged and reserved any time of the year for a 10% deposit with no refund and must be purchased within 90 days.
A deposit in the amount of 50% of total price of trees is required before the trees are dug and available for customer pickup or delivery.
The unpaid balance for the trees is due upon customer pickup or delivery. The tree service fee for delivery, planting, mulching, staking and/or fencing is due in full upon completion of tree service agreement.
Chester County Trees advantage: when you purchase our evergreen trees you get fresh dug Chester County grown evergreen trees, not just trees dug from anywhere weeks or months or even a year ago!
Even better, all of our evergreen trees are growing and thriving in our ground and climate allowing them to easily adapt to their final destination in our area.
We use a cone bladed spade to dig our trees. Almost all trees grow a leader root straight into the ground which is the lifeline of the tree.
Only a cone bladed spade will dig a root ball deep with a bottom point preserving all or the majority of the leader root.
Most or all nurseries use a truncated or modified bladed spade, cutting off part or most of the leader root to create a tree ball with a flattened bottom so the tree will stand up without bracing the tree while displayed or stored at their nursery for an extended period of time.
This practice encourages tree stress and even more stress as the tree ball is normally place above ground level and subjected to the root ball drying out from time to time.
If we happen to store a tree, we dig a same-sized cone shaped hole in the ground and set the cone shaped tree ball into the cone hole to store the tree straight and keep the entire ball damp and protected so it will not dry out and stress the tree as easily.
A tree planted with a cone shaped ball will almost never need staked as the coned ball reaches deeper into the ground locking the tree in position. In addition, the deep coned ball helps keep the tree ball and roots more cool and moist under most weather conditions.
The end result is a more stable and healthier tree.
When requested, we will cut open the bottom of the wire basket, before planting, to help prevent the curled leader root syndrome.
Open bottom wire baskets are believed by some to improve and encourage tree health after transplant as the leader root(s) are free to expand beneath the basket with less resistance.
We have found that almost all trees planted with closed bottom wire baskets in tact continue to grow well as the leader roots work their way through the wire or eventually force the wire apart.
Eventually, the wire basket will rust and dissolve or at least break apart and separate as the tree root system grows.
We believe open bottom wire baskets make sense, but where is the proof?
We love planting, growing, and caring for evergreen trees. Tree farming is not work for us, it is our hobby, nature, and in our DNA to grow evergreen trees. We take great pride and care in planting each and every tree.
Every day of hard work feels like a reward after looking back to see the consequences as the seedlings transform into mature, healthy, and beautiful works of art!
